Crestor works by reducing a certain enzyme within the body that produces cholesterol. It belongs to a class of medications called statins.
Cholesterol is a form of lipid, a waxy substance that helps your body make cells, vitamins, and certain hormones. It is not inherently bad. Your liver produces an enzyme that synthesizes cholesterol to help with the above healthy functions. Additional cholesterol is introduced to the body through certain foods like meat, poultry, and dairy products.
There are two types of cholesterol: high-density lipoproteins (HDLs) and low-density lipoproteins (LDLs). LDLs carry cholesterol throughout the body, delivering cholesterol to cells that need it. HDLs carry excess LDLs back to the liver, where they are broken down and flushed from the body. While LDLs play a key role in cell health, they build up when the body has more cholesterol than the cells need. This buildup turns into plaque in the arteries (blood vessels). As plaque covers the artery walls, the blood vessels become narrow. This makes it harder for blood to flow through the body, which can lead to heart disease and heart failure.
Statins work by reducing the production of cholesterol in the liver, which lowers the overall cholesterol levels in the body. Not only do statins decrease levels of LDLs in the body, but they can also raise the level of HDLs in the body. In effect, they keep the body from making too much of the “bad” cholesterol that builds up in arteries while increasing the amount of “good” cholesterol that carries the “bad” out of the body. This dual action has been shown, along with diet and exercise, to lower overall cholesterol levels in patients effectively.
Crestor medication for elevated cholesterolCrestor is used toenalitizecholesterol in patients withhyperlipidemia. Cholesterol plays a role in body weight, blood pressure, and inflammation. Elevated cholesterol levels are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, such as stroke, heart attacks, and other types of cardiovascular events.
Hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol in the blood) is characterized by symptoms such as swollen ankles, shortness of breath, fatigue, and vision changes. Crestor lowers cholesterol levels in the blood by blocking some of the production of cholesterol in the liver. This action reduces the amount of cholesterol in the body and makes it easier for blood to flow to the tissues.
Statins work by reducing the production of cholesterol in the liver, which lowers levels of LDLs in the body. Lowering LDLs is important for preventing cardiovascular disease and other types of infections.
Common Crestor uses includerestrictive statin use(standing for “control” of your cholesterol) andrestrictive lipid management(losing weight). While Crestor can be effective in managing cholesterol levels, it can also cause side effects like weight gain and increased blood pressure. It's important to note that these side effects are usually temporary and go away after the patients finish taking the drug.
Crestor can be dangerous for patients with liver disease or those taking specific medications that affect liver enzymes. If you experience symptoms of liver damage, such as unusual tiredness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or dark-colored urine, consult a doctor immediately.
Crestor can interact with other medications and supplements, so it's important to inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking. Some supplements contain substances that can impact the way Crestor works.
Inform your doctor about any other medications you are taking before starting Crestor, as interactions with certain medications can be dangerous. Some medications can lower blood pressure, so you should let your doctor know if you are taking any of the following:
Crestor can also lower LDLs in the blood. Low levels of LDLs in the blood can make it hard to exercise and may also increase the risk of heart disease.

Crestor is a statin that helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and even death in individuals with high cholesterol. It is a statin that helps reduce the risk of heart disease and other cardiovascular events in individuals with heart disease. Crestor is a generic medication that contains the same active ingredient as Cialis, but offers a more convenient and affordable option for those who do not have insurance coverage for generic versions of Tadalafil. Crestor works by altering the balance of cholesterol in the liver, helping to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes. It is also approved for use in adults and children who are overweight or obese. Crestor is a trusted prescription medication for treating high cholesterol levels by inhibiting the enzyme that produces cholesterol in the liver. This inhibition helps to reduce the amount of cholesterol that the liver produces and helps to increase the levels of cholesterol in the blood. Crestor is typically taken orally in 1 or 2 10mg doses. Avoid taking Crestor more than once daily since it can slightly increase its effectiveness. Crestor is a safe medication for daily use. See also:

AstraZeneca's global head of research, Dr. Michael Pearson, has concluded that the blockbuster drug Crestor, a cholesterol-lowering drug, is a better deal than other statin drugs. Dr. Pearson said in a statement that "we can't ignore that."
The results of his study are being presented today at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Clinical Pharmacology.
But the results are not good news for the AstraZeneca group. The drug is the second most widely prescribed drug in the U. S. and is the only one that has gained FDA approval for the treatment of heart failure in patients with left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) over 90 percent.
"We need to be able to see a treatment that is effective for everyone in terms of patient outcomes, including those who are suffering from heart failure," Dr. Pearson said in the statement.
"That will be the best we can do," he added.
The AstraZeneca research was funded by a grant from the American Heart Association and AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals.
